Since completing the 50K I have been very lax with my writing. The absence of any external deadline has sapped my motivation. Plus, I have actually had to earn my salary over the past few weeks (an unfamiliar, and unpleasant experience).
But, I've knuckled down this week. And despite the fact that it fricking freezing in my office, I'm halfway through the edit on draft 2. I've lost about 5k, but I'm reasonably happy with the bones of what's left. Which is nice.

Although I didn't bother uploading the results to Nanowrimo; it has been a great motivator to get the work done over the past month. So an evening off tomorrow. Then it's editing for the rest of December.
47K Well, I'm drinking like a writer.... Saturday was a blur of pints, shots and talking bollox. It was extremely convivial; very welcome; possibly deserved; but highly destructive. Which left me to grind out a 1,000 very quietly typed words on Sunday. Each of which was a small won victory against nausea.
12:30 I'm getting hit on, shamelessly. She's got the smile on main beam; and she's laughing at my casual riffage like it's vintage Saturday Night Live. And she's pretty, and clever, and I'd rather be talking to her than anyone else here at the conference. But, I don't take it any further, 'cause seriously, can you imagine how much time that'd burn through. 16:00 Back in the office and I'm dropping an email through, postponing tonight's drinks with Miss Right Now, 'cause I've got "too much work on" (she doesn't know me that well...). The reality being I can't square the circle of: drinks with her; the gym; and 2,000 words. 19:00 Get stood up for tomorrow's date; by the recent recipient of the late night booty txt (ironically enough she does it by text message). And my first thought is, "great that's 3k I can write tomorrow" I need to get out more
41K Averaging 2k a night at the moment, so feeling pretty comfortable with progress. And there are a fair few chunks of it that I'm probably going to keep once I start editing. Checked in with my nanowrimo group tonight. Which was something of an imposition, 'cause I had to edit a chapter down to a fit state to read out, and that cost me 45 minutes and the loss of 150 words. And they're all sitting round the table bitching about not having the time to write, and being so busy, and getting distracted by surfing the internet. And I'm sitting there watching the clock seeing a thousand words tick by. 'cause that's how I'm measuring time at the moment - that, that 15 minutes I'm talking to you on the phone is costing me 250 words, so you better raise the level of the conversation. I am Jack's unpleasant little being......
you must write! 34,534 although I am a little troubled by some of the fellow voxers who are talking about plot points and character arcs. Me, I'm strictly in wordbot mode. Come December there's going to be a whole lot of editing getting done. But I am, kind of, enjoying it. I'm not getting hung up on details of technology, props or MO. I'm just blowing right past it; I'll check all the facts later. And I'm very much in touch with my inner misanthrope. My landline is off the hook; the mobile is on silent; I'm not answering the door; and this weekend I had 'the flu' as far as anyone is concerned.

My absence has not been due to customary tardiness. I have, somewhat ambitiously, signed up to nanowrimo. Which means my phone's switched off, I'm chained to the desk, and begrudging all human contact.
